This was actually a really good week, despite my being sick for the last three days. We taught the most lessons in a week than any other week in my mission. 12 lessons in one week, and we're only getting
started!
The mission is getting a lot stricter after Elder Bennet visited, which is a good thing. President Reynolds and his assistants came out with some new rules, which has caused quite the stir among us
missionaries. For example, now when we want to take someone to the temple, we have to sacrifice our preparation day to take them there. That means that from now on, whenever I take someone to the temple, I won't be emailing you that week. Not going to lie, but at first I was a little upset at the rules, but over the last week during my studies I took a look at those feelings, and realized that it was just the
natural man in me, and I am happy to say that I love the new rules. We have been promised that as we are obedient to these rules, we will be blessed with success, increased numbers, and baptisms. I have seen those blessings in my life. It's funny how Heavenly Father teaches us over and over again how important obedience is. Hopefully it doesn't take too much longer for it to sink into the mission, because there's a few missionaries who really really don't like the new rules, and refuse to follow them. It's sad to me, because they are denying themselves and their areas the blessings.
When we as missionaries are obedient, investigators tend to 'fall from the sky.' For example, we set up a lesson with one of the people from English Class a couple weeks, but he didn't show. Last week, he showed up to class again, and while I was going to go and ask him if he wanted to meet with us, but he was the one who approached me and said 'hey, sorry about last week; I was sick, but when can we meet again? I really want to take the discussions.' We have had so many people like that just fall into our laps recently, and I attribute it directly to our obedience.
So, my companion contracted Lyme's disease a while back- don't remember if I told you about that, but he's been taking medicine for it. Sunday was the day he was supposed to finish the medicine, but he threw up the second to last pill during church. So, I took him home and had a bunch of time while he rested to make some food, so I decided to try out all of the Chinese food seasonings and sauces I have. So, I took some chicken breasts, cut them up small, seasoned them thoroughly, and then chucked them in bowls with a generous helping of the sauces. I cut up some peppers and threw them in with some frozen broccoli, and stir fried it all. On the side I mixed some scrambled eggs and Chinese noodles. It was super good! The broccoli soaked up the spices, and were far more spicy than any of us anticipated. Super super good. I'm definitely going to be doing it again. I just thought that mom would be proud of me :)
We actually saw the eclipse super well from our apartment. It was pretty cool. I love the pictures that Sister Motyer took.
As far as the taco soup, rolls, and cornbread are concerned, Sister Reynolds actually made a bunch for lunch when Elder Bennet came, and it really reminded me of home... I love that stuff.
It's good to hear that you all have another trip to Utah planned. Make sure to have fun for me :)
