Things are going pretty great. The work was a little slow this last week, but not for lack of work ethic. We had just about everything cancel on us! That's okay, though. You get weeks like that in the mission. They come, and then they go. Like, this week is looking to be a great week. On Sunday the branch got super fired up to support us in missionary work, and we have some consistent days where we can go out with members now. It's a blessing, for sure! Something a little different in this branch than any other I've served in is that I don't have to play piano at all! It's actually really nice. There's a lady who plays for sacrament, and Elder Carlson plays really well (better than me, in my opinion), so I don't ever have to play for church. Another different aspect of this branch is that we have Elders Quorum/Relief Society first, at 10, Sunday School at 11, and Sacrament at noon. It's a small branch- Sacrament attendance was 41- but they're all great. There's some super cute kids who I've already made friends with.
As far as investigators, we've got one really really solid investigator. His name is Javier, and he's from Honduras. His son is actually a member, and so he'll come to church with him. He's basically a member already; just needs to hear all the lessons and accept a baptismal date. It's kinda funny- Javier looks like a Hispanic version of Brother Steadman. He works all week in New Jersey, so we can only meet with him on the weekends, but that's okay. We've been dropping a lot of people, so our area book right now is the smallest one I've ever seen. So, the name of the game right now is finding people to teach. It's great :)
So, another item of note is that Mother's Day is coming up soon, and that'll be a Skype day- my last in the mission! I'll talk to you more about coordinating the call when it gets closer, but I'm pretty excited.
I have to say thanks to Grandma and Grampa Hicken- they sent me a very generous sum of money for my birthday.
The largest stressor in my life at the moment is the fact that I can't go pick up a package that I know is waiting for me. It's just sitting on a shelf at the office. Our Zone Leaders dropped the ball as well, because they didn't bring any packages from the office to Zone Training Meeting. Oh well- I'll get it soon.
It's so crazy to me that Spencer's already going on dates and going to prom and all that. So weird!!! I'm old! Elder Pothier, my companion, graduated in 2015. I was on my mission when he was a Senior. How weird is that?! I hope Spencer has a great time, and you'll have to send me pictures!
Well, that's the update! Any questions?
With love,
Elder Richard Brandt Hull
