Well, this week has been pretty good, excepting Sunday. We ended up playing Race for the Galaxy just about every night since Christmas, and we love it! I've won it twice, once by a total landslide. It's
actually pretty complex and strategy based. The next day, on Saturday, we took one of our recent converts to the temple to take out her endowments! It was super cool, and she is super solid. Her sister just got baptized, and got her recommend for baptisms on Christmas Day (just before we talked, actually), and so she was able to go see the baptismal font. Just a great day. I was able to go through for one of Elder Lilly's ancestors, and I got to do initiatory work for said ancestor. It was a really really good refresher- I haven't done one since I did my own. While we were waiting outside the temple after we were done, we heard that a missionary had gone missing. Keep that in mind, because he plays a role in yesterday's events. We went and ate pizza afterwards- it was super good! We then went to go home, and I was starting to feel a little sick. We went back and immediately helped with a baby shower. By the end of that, I was pretty sure I had a sore throat. Lo and behold, I was unable to go to church on Sunday, because I was sick. I spent the whole morning sleeping it off, and then took a long, warm, steamy, shower. After that, I felt good enough to get dressed, and by the afternoon I felt good enough to go out teaching. At 3 we got a call that I would be having a new companion for the rest of the week, until transfers. Lo, and behold, enter the runaway elder.
So, last night ranks among the most frustrating nights of my mission. We'll call my companion Elder S. So, I had a few people lined up to visit, and so we set out to visit the first one. I soon find out that
Elder S's idea of missionary work is talking to literally everyone, knocking every single door no matter what, and that he had absolutely no idea how to talk to people. We wasted so much time knocking doors, when I had people lined up to visit. When I asked him to follow me to those appointments, it was like he didn't even register it. We did manage to go to a family, and right in the middle of my discussion
Elder S. just stands up and walks to the door. The family thought he was super weird. He also made me late to call ins by trying to flag down cars.
But wait- there's more! I pick up the phone this morning, and President Reynolds was calling for an interview with Elder S- ASAP. So, we eat lunch, hop on the bus, transfer to the bus going the opposite way we wanted, get on the right one, and get to the office. When President and my companion got out of the office, it was official that Elder S. would be going home- today. So, now I am back with the
Zone Leaders.
Wow. What a day. Don't have a whole lot more time to write, but I'm doing better. Just kinda hanging in here until the transfer ends.
Love,
Elder Hull
