I'm going to try to keep this one a little short, because I've got a decently bad headache and need to lie down before we go out teaching.
This week was pretty cool. Halloween passed, and we had to be in our apartments by 6 in the evening. The reason is that apparently it gets pretty dangerous here in Far Rockaway, like nobody trick or treats after sundown. Gang initiation day, or something. I've heard a couple stories of groups of 20 or so trouble makers walking down the street and flipping over cars that try to go through. We got Taco Bell at 5, I took an extra shower at 6, and a nap after that. I woke up soon after, and wrote for a bit until Elder Payne woke up, and we played cards until 10:20.
I've taken to carrying a little leather bound 300 page 'field book' with me wherever I go. I record things I see and hear and think. Something that might make its way into a story someday. I also record
names, numbers, and addresses in there. It's an all-purpose book that lets me write without unfocusing on my call. I love it.
Sunday was a bit of a stressful affair, with everyone wanting me to do everything. I had to lay down and take a power nap after church. A little list of all my responsibilities helped a lot. It feels like a lot more than it is when it's abstract and nebulous. We got fed all night long, and we found a new investigator. We did pretty good on our lessons this week, too. 10 lessons for our first transfer together is pretty
good.
Well, other than that there's really not to much to report. Any questions?
